Our Story

Kreta Reisen was founded in 1989 in Düsseldorf by Nikoletta Fotiadou-Brack (commercial correspondent, language talent and the unshakeable hero of the office) and Wolfgang Brack (business economist, number whisperer and long-time Crete enthusiast). What began as a classic travel agency for Crete, Greece and Cyprus was, in truth, already a heartfelt love letter to Crete and Greece itself: package holidays, cruises, round trips, self-drive itineraries, island hopping, city breaks, and of course our carefully selected villas, holiday homes and apartments. A variety we are especially proud of — because we personally know every accommodation we recommend. And that’s exactly why we confidently guarantee wonderful moments in Greece. The beginnings were modest: a small office, one telephone, one big dream — and the very first bookings for the family-owned hotel in Kolimbari. But when Crete is in your heart, things rarely stay small. Soon came our own charter flights, beautifully designed travel catalogues, and a strong focus on Western Crete, which we continue to nurture with passion. Then the digital era arrived — and suddenly we were able to share our love for Crete not only with Düsseldorf, but with the entire German-speaking world (and today, far beyond). The cosy little travel agency in Düsseldorf-Derendorf grew into the modern platform www.kreta.com . What has never changed: warm, personal advice individually tailored travel experiences genuine enthusiasm for Crete And since we now know the island almost as well as some people know the contents of their fridge, we are preparing our next step: handpicked, verified real estate on Crete — curated with the same quality standards that define our trips.

For over 35 years, we’ve been personally advising and supporting our guests – with plenty of heart, lots of experience, and an unmistakable love affair with Crete. Several times a year, we set off to “our” island – equipped with notebooks, cameras, curious eyes, and an even more curious appetite – to discover new hotels, villas, and apartments that truly fit our guests. Over the decades, our local partners have become much more than business contacts: hoteliers, hosts, property owners, taverna owners, and guides, who not only show us their best rooms but also the nicest beaches, the freshest fish, and occasionally a treasured family recipe. And this is exactly what our guests feel: authentic Cretan hospitality, genuine recommendations, and insider tips you only receive when you don’t just visit Crete – but live it, love it, and carry it around in your suitcase year after year.
