Mochos has a beautiful village square and a special church, the "Evangelistria Church" with icons worth seeing. Cretan evenings and wedding celebrations take place there.

The Heraklion Archaeological Museum is one of the most important in Europe. Most of the finds from the Minoan era are presented here. The Palace of Malia, at the foot of the Selena Mountains, is also an important Minoan archaeological site. The first palace was built in 1900 BC. built at the same time as the palaces of Phaistos and Knossos. The palace is 3 km east of Malia.
