The small sandy bay of
Kalathas is located on the west side of the Akrotiri peninsula near
Chania. The beach is very shallow to the sea. In the season a beach bar / tavern is opened. Here also beach chairs and umbrellas can be borrowed. From the beach you can see a small island that a good swimmer can reach. Due to the western orientation of the bay you have almost until the last minute sunshine.
From Kalathas it is also not far to the neighboring bay of Tersanas and also the bay of
Stavros, famous for the filming of the classic Alexis Zorbas.
