Beaches around Plakias Village
The region around Plakias on the south coast of Crete is a paradise for beach lovers. Within a few minutes' drive, you'll find numerous coves and beaches that could hardly be more diverse. From expansive sandy beaches to small, hidden bays, there's something for every type of vacation.
Damnoni Bay – approx. 3 km east of Plakias
The wide, sandy Damnoni Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the region. It can be reached in just a few minutes by car or on foot. Tavernas, umbrellas, and water sports make Damnoni an ideal beach for families and active vacationers. The clear water is perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Souda Bay – approx. 4 km west of Plakias

In the immediate vicinity of Damnoni lie the bays of Ammoudi and Ammoudaki. Here, visitors can expect turquoise, crystal-clear waters – perfect for snorkeling. Ammoudaki is also known as a nudist beach. These bays are somewhat more secluded and therefore appear particularly idyllic.
